The second edition is a draft
An FDIS cannot be cited as the applicable standard and cannot be certified against. If a contract cites the second edition today, the citation is premature. What the record shows.
ISO 22316:2017 is the published resilience guidance. Its second edition, ISO/FDIS 22316, is registered for formal approval, so the edition you cite and the evidence you keep both need a date. This site states every clause in plain words, shows the evidence a reviewer asks for, and separates the recorded dates from the estimate.
Read from the real rules, not invented. Every answer points to the official clause behind it, so you can check any line yourself.
No account for the free check. Not legal advice; does not certify.
Most teams can describe their continuity plan and cannot produce the resilience record the standard asks for. The register turns each clause into the evidence a reviewer will request, so the answer is ready before the question.

ISO 22316:2017 is the published edition in force. Its nine attributes and evaluation approach are the place to start; the 37-page FDIS may add or change guidance, and this site does not claim to see that change. The clause register.
No publication date is recorded. The planning date used here is 15 February 2027, 120 days from 18 October 2026, labelled an estimate. ISO has not committed to it. The dated timeline.
Each page states the guidance in our words, why it matters, the evidence a reviewer asks for, the common failures and what to do before the second edition lands. Start with clause 1 if the scope is unclear. Start with clause 5 if the record is the gap.
| Clause | Record | The answer in one line |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Scope | ISO 22316 is guidance for enhancing organizational resilience in any organization, of any size or type, at any point in its life. It is not sector specific, it does not require a uniform approach, and it does not certify anything. |
| 2 | Normative references | The only normative reference is ISO 22300, the terminology standard. The 2017 edition does not make any other document mandatory, and it does not incorporate a management system standard by reference. |
| 3 | Terms and definitions | Five terms carry the argument: management, interested party, organizational culture, organizational resilience and values. The definitions are short, and each one narrows what the rest of the guidance is about. |
| 4.1 | General | Seven principles provide the foundation for a resilience framework: a shared vision and purpose, an up-to-date understanding of context, the ability to absorb and adapt, good governance and management, diversity of skills and experience, coordination across disciplines, and effective risk management. |
| 4.2 | Coordinated approach | The organization should build a coordinated approach with seven elements: a mandate from leaders and top management, adequate resources, governance structures for coordination, investment decisions suited to context, systems that support implementation, arrangements to evaluate and enhance resilience, and effective communication. |
| 5.1 | General | An organization that adopts the principles will show nine attributes, from a shared vision to the ability to anticipate and manage change. Which attributes matter most, and how much evidence is enough, depends on the organization's context and objectives. |
| 5.2 | Shared vision and clarity of purpose | Resilience is strengthened when purpose, vision and values are clearly articulated and understood, so that decisions at every level can be made with the same direction in mind. |
| 5.3 | Understanding and influencing context | Resilience depends on a current understanding of the internal and external environment, including the relationships and dependencies that affect the organization's ability to deliver its purpose. |
| 5.4 | Effective and empowered leadership | Resilience is strengthened when leaders grow other leaders and let them act in many situations, including uncertainty and disruption. |
| 5.5 | A culture supportive of organizational resilience | A culture that supports resilience shows common convictions, guiding beliefs, a constructive outlook and conduct. The organization should determine its culture, identify the values and behaviour that strengthen resilience, engage people, foster innovation, empower people to raise threats and opportunities, and monitor the culture for change. |

The check asks which edition you cite, how the programme is governed, and how far each of the nine attributes has got. It returns the transition exposure, the weakest attribute and three actions. It runs in your browser and sends nothing anywhere.
It never returns a compliance verdict. It returns a reading of your answers and names the missing one when the position is incomplete. The clause behind each question is printed on the page.
It will not audit the organization, score maturity out of 100, or tell you that you conform. It will tell you which clause to open next and what evidence that clause expects.

The standard is voluntary. The obligations around it are not. The rules page names the frameworks that matter to this buyer in the United States, the European Union, the United Kingdom and Australia, chosen by a scan of the frameworks held for each market, in that order. Read the four market page.

No. It is a reference and a working register. ISO 22316 is guidance and has no certification scheme. Conformance is a claim the organization makes, and it does not replace legal, regulatory or contractual obligations.
